Oregon Burial Site Guide
Compiled by Dean H. Byrd and co-compiled by Stanley
R. Clarke and Janice M. Healy, the long awaited Oregon Burial
Site Guide is a must for every public library, genealogical
or historical society, and any serious cemetery researcher. Published
by Binford & Mort Publishing in Portland, Oregon, 2001, this
massive volume (aka Big Blue), contains entries for every known
burial site in Oregon, including many that no longer exist. Information
provided includes cemetery aliases, size, approximate number of
burials, date of establishment, location information, and a narrative
paragraph that may tell of the history of the cemetery, directions,
who donated the property, and references to USGS Quad. maps.
With a total of 1,216 pages (8.5" x 11"),
278 photographs, 37 maps, an index, and a variety of interesting
and informative articles, this book is well worth the price of
$125.00 hard bound and $90.00 paper bound. Both require

and lot numbers are given, availability of an obituary

2002. This plastic comb bound book measures 8 1/2" x

at St. Andrews and Restlawn Cemeteries in the Canyon City/John
Day area. In addition to directions, cemetery maps,
and histories, this excellent volume documents a great
deal of genealogical data and includes, when known, parents'
names, occupations, epitaphs, description of tombstone

fascinating book is filled with directions to and histories
of many Josephine County cemeteries, many close up photos

conglomeration of graveyard terms, art, rubbings, customs,
stories, and "epitaphia." While it does
not contain full listings of burials, this 134-page, 8
12/" x 11", plastic comb bound book is a must
for travelers to Josephine County, Oregon history buffs,
and descendants of Josephine County pioneers.
